The Flame and Horsehead nebulae
by Carlo Paschetto

Product Details

The famous Horsehead Nebula (also known as Barnard 33, or B33) is a small dark nebula in the Orion constellation, located just to the south of Alnitak, the easternmost star of Orion's Belt. It is one of the most identifiable nebulae because of its resemblance to a horse's head.

The Flame Nebula, also known as NGC 2024, is an emission nebula next to the Horsehead in the Orion constellation. It is about 900 to 1,500 light-years away.

The bright star Alnitak (ζ Ori), the easternmost star in the Belt of Orion, shines energetic ultraviolet light into the Flame and this knocks electrons away from the great clouds of hydrogen gas that reside there. Much of the glow results when the electrons and ionized hydrogen recombine. Additional dark gas and dust lies in front of the bright part of the nebula and this is what causes the dark network that appears in the center of the glowing gas.

The Flame Nebula and the Horsehead nebula are both part of the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex, approximately 1,375 light-years from Earth, which also includes the famous Great Orion Nebula and other amazing deep sky objects. [Source: Wikipedia]

Style and Size

Paper prints are available on gloss Ultra HD paper Fuji Crystal Professional Archive Maxima.

ArtBox frame is made of glazed black aluminium 10 mm (0.39 in.) thick which leaves a small gap between the picture and the aluminium frame, making the image appear to be floating. Wall mount system is included.

The HD Metal Print is an especially low weight premium product, weather and water resistant. It's a two layer composite material, made by a high-quality print encapsulated in a special coating and an aluminium panel 1mm thick. Wall mount system is included.

For unframed prints, the image is printed right to the edge of the material and size refers to the exact product dimensions.
For ArtBox framed prints, the size refers to the actual image size. 1 cm (4/10 in.) more must be added each side to consider the frame.
